Martin Rogan has turned down the chance to fight Tyson Fury

40-year old Martin Rogan has turned down the chance to fight British and Commonwealth champion Tyson Fury, despite saying previously he would “knock him out and beat him senseless.”

Rogan was at ringside to see Fury beat Dereck Chisora last month, but according to Mick Hennessy, promoter for Fury, Rogan “was given all he wanted – one of the best purses he’s ever had, a chance to fight for both titles, and fighting in his home city. I can’t believe he’s turned down the offer.”

Fury’s alternative, Neven Pajkic of Canada, has also reportedly turned down a fight with Fury, who is finding it difficult to arrange his next fight as he seeks to make a name on the world stage, having reached the heights of the British and Commonwealth titles.

The points victory against Chisora last month was seen as a significant step up the ladder for Fury, with Wladimir Klitschko talking up the chances of a match against the Irishman, that Fury has muted in favour of some more substantial victories first.
