Haye v Klitchsko

The Fight Everyone's Waiting For

Posted Oct 18, 2010 by Shaun Edwards

Haye should line up this fight now

With Vitali Klitschko defeating the also ran Shannon Briggs to retain his WBC Heavyweight title, surely everyone realises that it is now time for him to reach out and pick a fight with the one person every boxing fan in the world is itching to see him battle: WBA World Champion David Haye.

With Haye currently occupied in the lead up to a fight with fellow Brit Audley Harrison – a choice of fight that has more or less bemused everyone in the UK – it gives Vitali, and indeed his brother Vladimir (himself the IBF, WBO and IBO Champion) the opportunity to finally get the fight organised.

The truth is, it’s fairly obvious to everyone involved that Haye has only taken the fight with Harrison in order to prolong his title reign and obtain as much money as is possible.  Whilst this is fairly common sense - boxing is hardly the lengthiest of careers for anyone except George Foreman – there is no denying that every boxing fan was more than a bit disappointed.

It’s obvious that Haye recognises that either Klitschko would represent a huge challenge for his title, and be easily the toughest opponent he’s faced.  Yes, Valuev was a monster, but Haye was easily capable of out-boxing the massive man.  As for Harrison, the former Olympic champion is just not up to the standards of a world heavyweight championship fight.

Every boxing fan in the world has the same message: Haye v Klitchsko: right now!
